The Wall of Shame
This is a list of businesses that for whatever reason shouldn't trusted/believed or used... I'm a firm believer is treating others like you would like to be treated... I do what I say (or at least try very hard) and I tell people what's going on... I believe in a fair price for a fair product or service... I don't do a shoddy job and pass it off as the best it can be.
***DISCLAIMER THESE ARE MY OPINIONS FROM MY EXPERIENCES YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY***
A&A Customs Brokers - With all the hassles of importing things and the expansion I was working on.. I figured I needed a broker.. I find these guys on the web and I had them do one shipment. it went well . So the next shipment I had them quote for the freight as well.. They quoted one price for door to door delivery but when the shipment arrived (2 days late and on the wrong size truck) they charged us better then 35% more then what they quoted... We've been trying to sort this out for over a month I have had several people from them tell me they will sort this out and I never hear back....
UPDATE: After about 2 months of this Dave Costa (dcosta@aacb.com) from the Mississauga office calls Jayne and says they aren't going to do anything about this... He adds that it's not their fault they can't quote shipping...And that they are an honorable company even though they don't honor a written quote....$187 isn't a lot of money but when you work on the small margins we do it's the difference between profit and loss on an order... One bright spot is a lady named Lynn at there head office who believes this is not the way to do business... She has placed our file on their president's desk but considering the attitude of Mr. Costa and the others in their Mississauga branch there is no way I can ever do business with them again... For now Fedex can handle my needs and they don't find reasons to charge me extra and they honor their quotes..
Uhaul - lousy service you can read all about our experiences here....
D.G. BEAVAN Insurance Brokers Ltd - I had been a loyal customer of theirs for 7 years... All of a sudden they started asking questions that were inappropriate and with less then 30 days notice had my auto insurance cancelled... I guess I shouldn't say they cancelled it... The renewal was due and they gave me options.. (Pay the $2500 up front and the new truck needed a structural safety ($250) before they would extend insurance) I'll scan the letter and you can make up your own mind.... Strangely enough I got insurance that night with another carrier at less then I was paying without all these new conditions.... Hmmm I thought a brokers job was to find you insurance..... My mistake....
Bancroft Motors - Maybe it's just a small town mentality... After over charging us on 2 successive bills, minor stuff 5 bucks here and 5 bucks there . We caught it and they rebated the money. (At least now we know how they are building that new dealership) When we had a warranty claim they screwed up and couldn't get the claim to process... They kept telling us that they would fix it we heard that for 4 weeks... Jayne went in to try and figure out what we could do to get the situation fixed ( after all we were out a couple hundred bucks) they gave her a song and dance... I called GM that night and had it sorted out it less then 2 hours... Bancroft Motors had the opportunity to redeem themselves in that they could have cut us a cheque for the rebate and GM would have credited them... But they opted not to... We had to wait 6 days for the cheque...
Bancroft Motors (again) - I didn't have much of a choice on Christmas day and the truck just stops about a block from their dealership and won't start again... I had it towed there only because nobody else is close... I should have paid extra and had it taken somewhere else... I get a call two days later saying it's fixed it was just a fuse... Fuses just don't blow so I asked what was on the circuit , they couldn't tell me... The bill $45 for the 15 minutes to replace the fuse and $60 for the tow... The tow didn't bother me but the repair did.. The truck wasn't running right.. I took it the another dealership (see the Wall of Honor) and they discovered that one of the pumps had failed and that there was about $1000 worth of warranty work due on the fuel injection system.... The truck has never run better...
FIREPAY/SUREFIRE Commerce (now called Terra Payments) - As many of you know we had our credit card account cancelled last August... Since they were holding onto some of our money I didn't want to place them here on the chance that they'd get silly and hold onto it for a while more... Or just loose it somewhere in the banking system. Apparently our product line violates their banking agreements.. Who's banking agreements apparently MasterCard international has something against guns...
MasterCard International - They apparently don't like guns.. And unless you do a lot of business or feel like giving them a large deposit you can't have an account...
Moneris Solutions - We told them up front what we sold and they said no problems... But when it came time to actually activate the account apparently it was a bad thing. Marstar has had their own set of problems with these people and as I've found out it's not the banks... It's MasterCard International that has been telling the banks that guns are bad .. So why would two of the leading firearms advocacy groups offer a branded MasterCard? Simply put money hence the reason I have nothing to do with either the NFA or the CSSA...
You can also see the Wall of Honor....
Have somebody that you think should be here.... Drop me a line...
